Dynamic Probe Testing
The heavy dynamic probe is a relatively portable and reliable Ground Investigation tool which is used to generate a vertical profile of soil stiffness which can be empirically linked to design parameters such as Cohesion, Internal Angle of Friction and SPT-N Value.
The rig itself is man-handled into position on integral pneumatic tyres and may be used over built pavements and softstanding.
The DPH test involves driving a series of 35mm diameter, 1m long steel rods into the ground by means of the integral trip hammer. The number of hammer blows taken for each 100mm increment is recorded (N100 value). Results are presented as a histogram of depth against N100.
